Dear Town Clerks:
Forest landowners are an aging population and planning for the future of our forested landscape is increasingly more important.
In an effort to address this need, Vermont Woodlands Association and UVM Extension have partnered to offer Succession Planning for woodland owners during three separate workshops this spring: April 25 in Montpelier, May 9 in Rutland, and June 2 in Fairlee. The program is funded in part by a grant from Vermont Housing and Conservation Board as part of their Forest Viability Program supported through the Working Lands Enterprise Fund.
With a landscape that’s 75% forested, every town in Vermont has a stake in the future of our forests. Please help us get the word out to your community members. We ask that you post a link to the workshop information on your town website or Front Porch Forum, if available. You may use the following title to promote the workshop: VWA and UVM Extension are offering the 2015 "Succession Planning Workshop for Landowners." TIES TO THE LAND: Take steps to guide the future of your land and link it to http://www.vermontwoodlands.org/workshops.asp
You may also print a copy of the registration and make it available at your office or on town bulletin boards. If you have a town conservation commission, please forward to members as this may be of significant interest to them.
Thank you in advance for this and any other help you can provide. If you have any questions, please let me know.
