Minutes of Selectboard Meeting 2-2-2015

DRAFT MAIDSTONE SELECTBOARD MEETING

February 2, 2015

CTO: 7:00 P.M.

ATTENDANCE: Bradley McVetty, Shawn Conant, William and Linda Sanborn and Susan Irwin.

APPROVE MINUTES: Shawn moved to approve the minutes for both the January 6 and the    January 22, 2015 Selectboard meeting minutes.  Bradley seconded the motion and the motion carried.

FIRE WARDEN: Bill handed in his report for the 2014 Annual Town Meeting Report.  Shawn moved to allow Bill to apply for the Wildland Fire Gear 50/50 grant.  Brad seconded the motion and the motion carried.

BUDGET & WARNING: The Board added Unemployment to the Proposed Budget in the Annual Report with the amount of $1,000.  That changed the bottom line from $207,867 to $208,867.  They also added in an additional Article: Shall the Town vote to take $8,000 from the General Fund and create an Earmarked Fund for “Professional Services”?

NEKWMD: Bradley related the conversation he had with Brendan Whittaker who is one of the Selectboard Members in the Town of Brunswick and also works for VLCT/PACIF.  He talked to our State Representatives about the unfairness of the proposed changes to PILOT to our town and others. He also said that PACIF is having meetings in an effort to change Act 148, the new recycling law. He verified that it is the responsibility of towns to fight fires on state land within their town.

ZONING/WIND TOWERS: Shawn moved to sign the “Resolution to increase the input of Vermont municipalities regarding the siting of renewable energy projects in certificate of public good proceedings before the public service board” as presented by the town of Rutland.  Brad seconded the motion and the motion carried.

ANNUAL HIGHWAY MILEAGE: This document was reviewed and signed.

SELECTMEN’S WARRANTS TO BE SIGNED: These documents were reviewed and signed.

OTHER BUSINESS: None.

ADJOURN: 8:56 P.M.
